During his introductory press conference with the Dallas media, Cowboys running back and third-round pick DeMarco Murray was asked if he keeps in contact with St. Louis Rams star Steven Jackson. Murray and Jackson are both from Las Vegas, though they attended difference high schools and Jackson is four-and-a-half years older than Murray. Murray said that he does keep in contact with Jackson since he played with Murray’s big brothers.
“I knew him growing up. He was good friends with my brothers. They played together, so I’ve definitely talked to him plenty of times. He just let me know to take full advantage of my opportunities because there aren’t very many. And never take anything for granted.”
Todd Archer noted for Murray that Jackson once wanted to play for the Cowboys. Murray smiled and responded, “I think he still does.”
Murray said that although he would not be able to work with the Cowboys during the lockout, he will be in Dallas within two weeks to work out with current Cowboys and former Sooners teammates Manuel Johnson and Mike Balogun.
