NFL Draft 2011 News

Day one of the 2011 NFL Draft is in the books - something that used to hold more weight. Since the NFL has changed the schedule of the draft, day one only contains the first round. Rounds two and three - equally important if not more important than the first round - are to be held Friday night.

The Cowboys hold the 40th overall pick - the eighth pick in the second round. With their first round pick, Jason Garrett and Jerry Jones selected University of Southern California offensive lineman Tyron Smith, who is widely regarded as the top offensive lineman in the draft, despite being raw.

It's uncertain who will be available for Dallas, though there have been plenty of surprises thus far. Da’Quan Bowers, who was once linked to the Cowboys in one of SB Nation's mock drafts for Dallas' first rounder, has slid all the way out of the first round and into the second round. It's possible he may be there for the Cowboys at No. 40, but doubtful.
