2011 NFL Mock Draft: Mel Kiper Second Round Mock Projects Brandon Harris To Cowboys

Mel Kiper has released his second round mock draft. Kiper projects the Cowboys to select Miami corner Brandon Harris with their pick at No. 40 overall.

Dallas Cowboys
Brandon Harris
, CB, Miami (FL)

Cowboys need help at corner. Harris is a borderline first-round talent.

The Cowboys were interested in trading into the end of the first round to add a defensive end, but may find the defensive backfield the most promising match in the second round. Kiper projects Texas corner Aaron Williams to go four spots before the Cowboys’ pick, leaving Harris as a pretty clear choice as the top corner available.

Jerry Jones could opt to buck another trend, choosing a real, live free safety early in the draft. The Cowboys have a need there after Alan Ball struggled with his position switch in 2010. The top safety in the draft, Rahim Moore, can play in the free safety role. Kiper projects him to go at No. 42, two spots after Dallas’ pick.
