As had been rumored in various mock drafts leading up to the 2011 NFL Draft, the Dallas Cowboys selected USC offensive lineman Tyron Smith with the ninth overall pick.
Smith is widely regarded as the best offensive lineman in the draft, but the knock on him is that he's raw and needs time to develop. Smith is listed at 6'5", 307 lbs and is extremely athletic for a lineman. There had been rumors circulating throughout the day that the Cowboys would trade the pick, possibly to New England, but none of those rumors came to fruition.
Dallas' next pick will come in the second round when they pick 40th overall.
