2011 NFL Draft: Buffalo Bills Select Marcell Dareus

With the third overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft, the Buffalo Bills selected Alabama product Marcell Dareus.

Joel Thorman over at SB Nation offered this analysis of the selection:

The Buffalo Bills have made Alabama DT Marcell Dareus the third overall pick in the 2011 NFL draft. Dareus is a favorite of NFL Network's Mike Mayock because he can play all three positions on their 3-4 defensive line. Dareus can play immediately in Buffalo and the Bills defense can use all the help they can get.

In two seasons as a starter, Dareus compiled 66 tackles, 11 sacks and a pick-six in the 2009 BCS National Championship. Even after being suspended two games for accepting improper benefits, he's been considered the likely No. 2 pick for a while now. Despite being bested in the NFL Combine's 40-yard dash by Nick Fairley, Dareus dazzled in just about every other drill.

Mocking The Draft sees him as an instant starting end in a 3-4 system, backing up their assessment with play-by-play breakdowns from the Capitol One Bowl (not for the faint of heart).
