As expected, the Carolina Panthers selected Auburn quarterback Cam Newton with the first overall pick in the draft.
It's not a shock whatsoever, but it's a big risk for Carolina. If he busts (which, I think is likely), that'll be a high two in the form of Jimmy Claussen and the No. 1 overall pick in the following draft on two unsuccessful quarterbacks. And let's face it, Claussen is going nowhere with Carolina, otherwise they wouldn't have made this pick.
