Chris Mortensen: Trade Buzz Between Cowboys, Patriots

Chris Mortensen of ESPN tweeted Thursday afternoon that the Cowboys and Patriots appear to be talking trade.

Trade Buzz: New England looking to trade with Dallas to get Cameron Jordan #NFLDraft

Mortensen added in a subsequent tweet that the Cowboys are looking for a trade partner. Dallas would be looking to trade down to lower the potential price of their top pick and add extra picks.

New England has a slew of picks, including Nos. 17 and 28 in the first round. If Dallas trades down to 17, they could either hope that J.J. Watt falls to them or see which of several offensive linemen are still on the board. Tyron Smith is expected to go in the top twelve picks whether Dallas selects him or not. Anthony Castonzo could be off the board by 17, but Nate Solder could still be available.

The report from Mortensen that the Patriots like Jordan fits, but they could also look to jump high enough to reach a playmaker like Julio Jones.
