Prince Amukamara's stock has been slipping, with some suggesting he's destined for the middle or back end of the first round. For now, SB Nation's new 2011 NFL mock draft has his slide stopped at number nine.
↵↵↵9. Dallas Cowboys: Prince Amukamara, CB, Nebraska. In desperate need of a talent upgrade in their defensive backfield, Amukamara might be an instant starter at cornerback in Big D.
↵
Nick Fairley and Marcell Dareus lead the draft once again, with the über athlete trio of Patrick Peterson, A.J. Green and Cam Newton falling 3-4-5. A threesome of pass rushers, led by Von Miller, then precedes the Dallas slot. The top offensive lineman - Tyron Smith - sits at just 18, while no corners appear to be rising to supplant Amukamara, with Brandon Harris still projected at 23.
↵This mock draft is two rounds long and has the Cowboys filling a major positional need in the second.
↵↵↵40. Dallas Cowboys: Rahim Moore, FS, UCLA. Dallas is hurting at safety, too, and this is a nice value spot for Moore, the highest-upside safety available this year.
↵
Moore is a true free safety and is the only true safety projected in the top two rounds here. He seems like a nice fit, but he's a big name and, considering that he's the only cover safety out there at this point, if he tests well he figures to go off the board well before Dallas makes their second pick. At any rate, defensive backs at 9 and 40 would certainly inject some talent into a secondary that had a disastrous 2010 and has to be a top priority for Rob Ryan.
