Calvin Watkins cites a source who tells him that Ray Sherman won't return with the Cowboys next season. It's a very interesting twist, after the past few days' events. Sherman was asked by Jones to interview for the head coach position shortly before the owner hired Jason Garrett. Then Jones claimed in Garrett's introductory that the coach would have final say on his staff and roster.
↵I've never heard that there was any tension between Garrett and Sherman, but Sherman is a well respected coach, so either Garrett doesn't want Sherman around or Sherman doesn't want to work for Garrett and/or Jones. Considering that Sherman doesn't want to hinder his future in the league and considering the way Garrett handles things, it may be a while before we know what went down. But I have always wondered if Garrett felt betrayed after 2008 when several of his players - and wide receivers in particular - questioned his performance openly. I was never sure quite where Sherman stood on that issue, and I wonder if Garrett was himself.
