The University of Connecticut has hired Paul Pasqualoni to replace Randy Edsall. There had apparently been a push by alums to bring Pasqualoni in, and it seems to have worked. He was a candidate, at least in name, for the defensive coordinator job in Dallas, but he almost certainly would have been asked to return to coaching a position if he had stayed.
↵Though he's technically a retread, I think this is a pretty good hire for the Huskies. He knows the area, and he's successfully run a pretty robust program (at least at the time) at Syracuse. They thought that they could do better, after he settled in as a 7-8 win coach for them, and their program has since basically disintegrated. He knows both sides of the ball well, and after several years in the NFL he has that perspective and pizazz. Edsall delivered UConn from Division II to Big East champions, and Pasqualoni is the kind of guy who should be able to keep them from backsliding too badly.
