2011 NFL Draft: New SB Nation Mock Draft Links Cowboys With Janoris Jenkins

In a draft that no longer includes Andrew Luck, the Cowboys just hope that enough of the other underclassmen expected to be top ten talents do declare for the draft so that their pick retains value. Their projected pick in SB Nation’s second mock draft does at least fill a serious need.

9. Dallas Cowboys (6-10): Janoris Jenkins, CB, Florida. Dallas has a lot of talent defensively, but it severely underperformed in 2010. Mike Jenkins was particularly brutal at cornerback, and as depth is a mild concern there anyway, Janoris Jenkins would be a quality addition.

Jenkins was projected 13th in the first mock, but he does figure to be a serious candidate in the top ten. In addition to Brian Galliford’s comment, Terence Newman is no slam dunk to remain on the team, so someone like Jenkins could make a lot of sense.

Other major moves in this version:

- DaQuan Bowers jumps to the top pick with Luck out, while Patrick Peterson and AJ Green stay put.

- Cam Newton jumps in front of the Cowboys to #7 (Minnesota) with his teammate swapping from #7 to #11, behind Dallas. This could be something to watch, as Dallas figures to make some changes at defensive end.

- The Cowboys projected pick in the first mock draft, Robert Quinn, is now slotted at #4.
