Cowboys Place Marcus Spears, Akwasi Owusu-Ansah On IR

A day after announcing that defensive end Marcus Spears would miss 4-6 weeks with a strained calf, the Cowboys decided to write him off for the remaining eight weeks by placing hi on the injured reserve list. He will miss the first game of his career Sunday, after playing in all 88 games to start off in the NFL.

The team also placed rookie safety and kick returner Akwasi Owusu-Ansah on injured reserve. AOA has dealt with an ankle sprain for the past ten days.

Jason Hatcher, Sean Lissemore and Josh Brent are also injured, so the Cowboys used the open roster spots to sign defensive linemen Jeremy Clark and Jimmy Saddler-McQueen. Clark had been with the Cardinals.
