Newsflash: Tashard Choice Doesn't Love The Bench

Charean Williams  has some quotes from Tashard Choice regarding the recently passed trade deadline and his desire to play. His outlook could obviously change if he eventually gets on the field, but he sounds like someone who would love to move on.

"It's just the situation," Choice said. "They're playing Felix more. He got to play, so they're weeding me out."

Choice said running backs coach Skip Peete talked to him a couple of weeks ago, explaining that his role would be reduced so the Cowboys could get Jones more work. That's why he thought he might be expendable Tuesday.

Choice's continued presence in Dallas is likely related to the four more years and nearly $30 million still remaining on Marion Barber's contract than interest in getting him on the field now, as Williams suspects. In what was predicted by Cowboys management as a bounceback season for the lighter Barber, his yards-per-carry have dropped a full yard from last season, and he has just one rushing touchdown through five games.. Even his yards-per-catch have dropped from 8.5 to 3.5.

An offense featuring Felix Jones and Choice seemed like a good idea this season, but the Cowboys may arrive at that solution a year later (or whenever there are NFL games). In the meantime, Choice sits and stews.
