According to KWTX's reporting, a former Baylor basketball player was being held in the McLennan County Jail Monday after his arrest in connection with an alleged attempt to extort Baylor Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III.
Richard Khamir Hurd was arrested Friday night by FBI agents, but no one will comment on the arrest until after Hurd makes his court appearance. Monday morning he was under a federal detainer awaiting bond, the report says. Court records show Hurd is set to appear before Federal Magistrate Jeffrey C. Manske at 2 p.m.
Details of the extortion attempt were not made available with the initial report, but will be provided as they come. Hurd played for the Bears for four years, entering the program as a walk-on in 2004.
