The Miami Dolphins decided to add some bulk to their defensive line Saturday in the seventh round of the 2012 NFL Draft, selecting Texas defensive tackle Kheeston Randall with the 215th overall pick.
A Beaumont, Texas native, Randall ran a 5.05 40 at the NFL combine and registered a 34-inch vertical jump, impressive for a man who stands 6-foot-5 and weighs just a shade under 300 pounds. In the Texas scheme, Randall was primarily a run-stopper and middle-clogger during a four-year Longhorns career, recording 98 tackles (21 TFL) and four sacks in 47 games, 35 of those as a starter. He earned first- and second-team All-Big 12 plaudits after the 2011 season from a number of media outlets.
