2012 NFL Draft: SMU Has Highest Player Drafted In Post-Death Penalty Era

SMU beat writer Laken Litman tweeted on Friday evening that former SMU offensive guard Josh LeRibeus, who was drafted 71st overall by the Washington Redskins, becomes the highest drafted Mustang since the school was hit with the death penalty.

The Richardson, Texas native adds to the Texas flavor as we all know the Redskins took Robert Griffin III from Baylor with the second overall pick in this year's draft. The Redskins also will have former SMU player Aldrick Robinson who was drafted by the Redskins in the 2011 NFL Draft.

In 36 career games as a Mustang, LeRibeus started 28 at left guard as he helped lead the squad back to prominence and an 8-5 record this past season.
