Few questioned who the Washington Redskins were targeting when they sent the St. Louis Rams three first-rounders and a second-rounder on March 10 in exchange for the No. 2 overall selection. It took until Thursday evening to make things official: Daniel Snyder and Mike Shanahan have their franchise quarterback, and his name is Robert Griffin III.
Baylor's first Heisman Trophy winner, Griffin threw for almost 4,300 yards and 37 touchdowns last season, capping off the year by leading the Bears to 67 points and 777 yards of total offense in an Alamo Bowl win over Washington. The question remains whether Griffin's spread-friendly game will translate to the NFL, but tonight Washington fans and Baylor followers can feel good. After the jump, see RG3's post-pick interview.
If RG3 wants his No. 10 jersey in Washington, he will have to fight Jabar Gaffney for the number.
