In the latest mock draft from Todd McShay, the ESPN Insider has the Dallas Cowboys taking Mississippi State DL Fletcher Cox in the first round:
Record: 8-8 | Top needs: 3-4 DL, G, CB, RB, 3-4 OLB, TE
Fletcher Cox*, DT, Mississippi State
Stanford G David DeCastro and Alabama S Mark Barron are possibilities here, but I like what Cox could bring to Rob Ryan's defense. He has the versatility to play anywhere along the defensive line and can provide pass-rush production from the inside.
An athletic 6'4 295 defensive lineman, Cox has the ideal size to be a 3-4 DE and could see snaps at both defensive line positions in the NFL.
Last season at Mississippi State, the junior had 56 tackles, including 14.5 for loss and 5 sacks, in 12 games.
Throughout the season, he showcased tantalizing glimpses of talent, but many draft analysts think he didn't quite put it all together enough to be worthy of a Top 10 selection.
