Baylor Receives Verbal Commitment From Vequan Jones

The 6'4 200 four-star WR is Baylor's fifth commitment in the 2013 recruiting cycle.

The Baylor Bears made their first big splash on the 2013 recruiting scene when they received a verbal commitment from four-star WR Vequan Jones from Wylie, Texas.

Jones, who has an intriguing combination of size and speed at 6'4 200 with a 4.4 40, is rated as the No. 23 WR in the country by Rivals.

Because of an extremely deep WR class in the state of Texas this season, Jones wasn't being aggressively pursued by Texas or Oklahoma, but schools from across the country had been poking around. He had been talking to Illinois, Ole Miss, Arkansas, Texas Tech and Michigan State.

Jones is the fifth verbal Baylor coach Art Briles has received in the 2013 recruiting cycle, and the early commitment of a four-star WR is an indication of how quickly the Bears have risen as a program in the last few years.

Rivals has video highlights of Jones working out at a summer camp here.
