NFL Mock Draft 2012: Dallas Cowboys Select Michael Brockers In First Round

Most Dallas Cowboys fans will be thrilled if the latest mock for the 2012 NFL Draft holds up from SB Nation's Ryan Van Bibber. That's because he has Michael Brockers of LSU as the Cowboys first pick at No. 14 overall.

The defensive tackle is often listed as a top ten player in many mock drafts, so to have such a strong defensive presence in the interior slide this far would be a must-grab for Rob Ryan's defense:

Dallas' defensive front has served adequately enough, but it needs youth and talent. Rob Ryan will more than happy to have Brockers manning a five-technique spot on his defensive line.

This is a departure from what some believe to be the Cowboys' greatest need in the secondary and if Alabama's Mark Barron is there as the top strong safety on the board, it would be difficult to pass up. However, the Cowboys could address that need later for the sake of grabbing a value pick like Brockers.
