Junior guard Pierre Jackson and senior forward Quincy Acy each netted a team-high eight points to help the No. 3-seeded Baylor Bears take a 36-29 lead over the No. 10 Xavier Musketeers in a NCAA Tournament, Sweet 16 contest in Atlanta, Ga. The winner advances to the South Region's finals, where it will play either No. 1 Kentucky Wildcats or No. 4 Indiana Hoosiers on Sunday.
The Bears (29-7) got off to a blazing start and led 22-4 just 7 minutes, 29 seconds into the contest. Acy netted four points during the run, while sophomore guard Brady Heslip scored all seven of his point during the span.
The Musketeers didn't panic and rallied to trim the margin to just four points, 33-29, with about 40 seconds to play. A Jackson 3-pointer in the final seconds pushed Baylor's lead back to seven points heading into the locker room.
Xavier center Kenny Frease has netted a game-high 12 points.
