Landry Jones' NFL draft stock in question

Landry Jones would likely have been a first or second round pick had he gone to the draft in 2012, but his draft stock has reportedly fallen in his final year with the Sooners.

After not entering the 2012 NFL Draft despite rumors to the contrary, Oklahoma quarterback Landry Jones will have to go into the 2013 Draft as a fifth-year senior. His numbers have been fantastic over his four years with the Sooners, putting up 38 touchdowns in 2010 and 29 last season, putting up over 4000 yards through the air both of those years as well.

Had he gone out last season to the draft, he likely could have been a first or second round selection. Unfortunately, according to some scouts, his draft stock has fallen quite a bit this season even as he has thrown for only 16 touchdowns to six interceptions while helping lead the Sooners to a 6-2 record.

According to the scout, speaking with Pro Football Talk, Jones has a problem dealing with adversity and hits, which frightens some scouts even though he is a great quarterback physically:

"[Jones] has all the tools we look for in a quarterback. but if he gets hit a couple times, he’s done. Lots of skill, absolutely — great size, good arm, accurate, tons of production the last three years. But he’s killing himself. … He shows he can do everything we want him to do, he just hasn’t shown he can do it consistently in pressure situations."

It will be up to Landry to prove the scouts wrong, but he only has a few games left to go in his final season to do so. Oklahoma will face off against Baylor on Saturday.
