College basketball rankings 2012: Indiana tops AP Poll, Baylor checks in at No. 19

Indiana is atop the preseason AP Top 25 for the first time since 1979-80, while Baylor is in the Top 20 and Texas also received votes.

Indiana is back atop the college basketball world, at least for the preseason. The Hoosiers have taken the top spot in the AP preseason top 25, earning 43 of the 65 first-place votes. Louisville checks in at No. 2, with 20 first-place votes, while defending champions Kentucky took the remaining two first-place votes and are ranked third.

After Kansas at No. 7, Baylor is the second highest ranked Big XII team, coming in at No. 19. The Bears went to the Elite 8 last year, where they were beaten by Kentucky, but they have some players to replace and are a better bet to finish strong than start fast.

It is a weak year for the conference, with the Jayhawks and Bears making up the entirety of the conference's representation in the top 25, but Texas does come in tied for third in the "others receiving votes" category.
