Baylor's Robert Griffin III has officially declared for the 2012 NFL Draft and he has been shooting up near the top of the mock drafts and is very likely to be taken as the second quarterback overall behind Stanford's Andrew Luck. Even some draft rankings have Griffin ahead of Luck which seems a bit off base.
ESPN's draft guru Mel Kiper Jr., has recently updated his draft board and has Griffin up to No. 6:
I'm not buying any talk that he'd be higher on some boards than Luck, but he certainly could be in the mix as the No. 2 pick if St. Louis deals. Great kid, underrated passer, big-time athlete. No ill effects from 2009 knee injury. Remarkable numbers.
Kiper's board is a rankings of players and Griffin is actually going higher than No. 6 in most of the mock drafts as he is going to be a franchise a quarterback for whatever team drafts Griffin.
