Last night, Air Force defeated Georgia Tech 14-7 in the Independence Bowl to kick off the biggest bowl week of the season. Tonight, the West Virginia Mountaineers and N.C. State Wolfpack take part in the Champs Sports Bowl at the Citrus Bowl in Orlando, Florida.
↵The 22nd-ranked Mountaineers went 9-3 during the regular season and 5-2 in Big East conference play. The Mountaineers overtime loss at the hands of the Connecticut Huskies prevented the team from earning the Big East's automatic BCS berth. Still, the Mountaineers boast the No. 2 defense in all of the FBS, averaging only 12.8 points per game allowed.
↵North Carolina State finished 8-4 during the regular season while going 5-3 in ACC play. The Wolfpack are led by their passing game, which ranked 19th in the FBS in yards per game with 281.7. Quarterback Russell Wilson threw for 3,288 yards and 26 touchdowns for the Wolfpack in their 12 regular season games.
↵Despite Wilson's impressive season, I'll take the Mountaineers to take out the Wolfpack in the Champs Sports Bowl. West Virginia bounced back with four consecutive wins to end their regular season following their overtime loss to UConn and boast an excellent defense - which should be enough to slow down Wilson and the North Carolina State offense.
