Josh Hamilton hit his 32nd home run of the season in the first inning as the Texas Rangers went on to defeat the Detroit Tigers 8-3 on Sunday. The Rangers take two of the three games in the series as Yu Darvish wins his 12th game of the season.

Darvish wasn't exactly sharp allowing eight hits and three runs in six innings of work. Darvish's eight strikeouts are nice but the five walks are ugly but they didn't come back to hurt him on Sunday.

Hamilton finished 2 for 3 with a homer and three RBIs in the game while Ian Kinsler drove in two runs for the Rangers. Miguel Cabrera finished 2 for 3 for the Tigers and drove in two runs.

Rick Porcello takes the loss after allowing nine hits and six runs in six innings of work.

Rory McIlroy has passed all of the tests this week at the 2012 PGA Championship and is now pulling away from the rest of the field at 11-under par. McIlroy is 4-under on his final round and has cruised along while playing bogey free golf.

Carl Pettersson and Ian Poulter are both tied for second place and six shots back of McIlroy at 5-under. Pettersson had an unfortunate two-stroke penalty assessed to him early in the round and three straight bogeys on the back nine took Poulter out of contention.

Tiger Woods is currently tied for seventh place at 3-under for the tournament. Woods birdied two holes on the front nine but a bogey at the 11th knocked him further back.

Rory McIlroy continues his strangle hold on the lead at the 2012 PGA Championship. Thus far McIlroy is 3-under for his final round and leads the tournament at 10-under. Ian Poulter had a string of birdies at the beginning of his final round and is four shots back at 6-under par.

Carl Pettersson is also tied for second at 6-under par and has done a nice job overcoming a two-shot penalty to start his final round. Four golfers including Tiger Woods are tied at 4-under and six shots behind McIlroy.

Woods is 2-under through the front nine of his final round but the slow start to Saturday's third round may have taken him too far back to make a run at McIlroy.

Mike Olt's walk off pinch hit single in the bottom of the ninth gave the Rangers a thrilling 2-1 win over the Tigers. Olt pinch hit for the left handed Mitch Moreland against Tigers lefty Phil Coke. He fouled off several pitches before delivering the single past a diving Miguel Cabrera for the game winner.

The Tigers got on the board first with an Austin Jackson homer in the first inning off of Derek Holland. Texas tied things back up in the third on a Nelson Cruz RBI single off of Justin Verlander. The score would remain tied until Olt's heroics in the ninth.

Mike Adams picks up the win with 2/3 of an inning of relief. Holland was solid allowing one run and three hits in 7 2/3 innings. Holland struck out nine and walked just one. Brayan Villarreal takes the loss for the Tigers. Justin Verlander allowed seven hits and one run in seven innings of work for the Tigers.

Rangers pitcher Roy Oswalt pitched two scoreless innings in Texas' 7-6 loss on Sunday to the Royals and reportedly declined to return to the mound for a third inning according to manager Ron Washington.

"He said he couldn't go any further," manager Ron Washington said. "He said he had enough."

Oswalt was not available after the game to discuss the report but was reportedly not happy about being moved to the bullpen after six starts this season. On the season Oswalt has a 3-2 record but a 6.49 ERA. After acquiring Ryan Dempster from the Cubs there doesn't appear to be any room for a return to the rotation by Oswalt.

His future going forward is uncertain and it will be interesting to hear what Oswalt has to say about the report.

The Texas Rangers came out on the losing end of a back and forth contest with the Kansas City Royals 7-6 on Sunday. Mike Olt's throwing error in the bottom half of the 10th inning allowed the winning run to score. The Rangers had numerous opportunities including a failed squeeze bunt attempt in the ninth inning.

Derek Holland had another shaky start allowing eight hits and six runs in six innings of work. Texas fell behind 2-0 in the first on a double by Salvador Perez but scored five times in the fourth to take a 5-2 lead. However, Holland couldn't hold it as he surrendered homers to Jeff Francouer and Brayan Pena along with a two-run double to Billy Butler.

Texas wasn't finished though as Michael Young's double in the seventh once again tied the game. The Rangers missed an opportunity in the ninth with Mike Olt at third and no one out. Manager Ron Washington called for a squeeze play but Elvis Andrus couldn't get the bunt down. Olt was out at home and the Rangers came away scoreless.

That play set the stage for Olt's error on a tough ground ball chance off the bat of Francouer that was the difference in the game.

In what is a little bit of a surprising move TCU head coach Gary Patterson indicates that quarterback Casey Pachall will not face team discipline for his failed drug test.

So just to recap Pachall failed a drug test back in February and admitted to a law enforcement officer that he had used marijuana, cocaine and ecstasy prior to failing that drug test in February. Yet no word of a suspension from the team and apparently one isn't forthcoming.

Thus far there has been no explanation for the lack of punishment from head coach Patterson, but the decision seems extremely lenient in this case.
