Having waited a year, they get the better of Nebraska's fearsome duo in the secondary from 2010 to improve their shaky pass defense.

SB Nation's Mocking The Draft had this to say about Dennard. via mockingthedraft.com

Dennard has been a starter since midway through the 2009 season but really came on as a junior. He finished last season with four interceptions and seven pass breakups while starting 13 games. Dennard is an all-around cornerback who plays the run well, when asked. Dennard strongly considered going pro following his junior season, but his mother urged him to return to school. That will allow Dennard to get his sociology degree.

The Big East has been torn apart by the decisions of Pittsburgh and Syracuse to join the ACC conference and West Virginia to join the Big 12. Add TCU's decision to back out of their commitment to the Big East and instead join the Big 12, and you have the reason for the Big East to not just add a couple of schools, but to add five for the 2013 athletic seasons.

SMU gets the benefit of joining a BCS conference that should help their school with not just money, but with recruiting for their sports as well. It's a great day for those five schools and for the Big East conference as a whole.

The first-place Dallas Cowboys move up again this week in the latest ESPN Power Rankings as they come in at No. 8 this week, one spot above where they sat a week ago. The Cowboys used a 20-19 victory over the Miami Dolphins on Thanksgiving day to move to 7-4 on the season and they currently hold a one-game lead over the New York Giants in the NFC East division.

The Cowboys travel to Arizona to take on the Cardinals this week while the New York Giants have to deal with the undefeated, defending Super Bowl champion Green Bay Packers this week. That sets up a showdown between these two teams on December 11th for Sunday Night Football at Cowboys Stadium in Dallas.

The Giants come in at No. 14 in this weeks' power rankings, while the Eagles sit at No. 18 and the Redskins sit at No. 23 to round out the rest of the NFC East.
