Taco Bell Super Bowl commercial: Old man enjoys life, doesn't eat tacos

Taco Bell's 2013 Super Bowl commercial promises elderly people doing funny things, and little actual footage of Tex-Mex cuisine.

Chris Graythen

Taco Bell is taking a different approach from its usual advertising strategy with its 2013 Super Bowl commercial. Instead of showing cheesy, meaty, goopy concoctions wrapped in several fancy tortilla and nacho chip layers, the company is instead bringing us elderly people gone wild, with nary a taco in sight:

The ad is quite adorable, and certainly fits the fast food chain's new "Live Mas" slogan. Whether the ad will effectively convince viewers to run out and buy Tex-Mex food is another question. Go back and watch the ad again, and ask yourself whether you'd know it was a Taco Bell commercial without the headline and preamble.

In any case, at least it's mildly amusing for 54 seconds.
