Mavericks Offseason: Unlikely To Sign Rafael Hettsheimeir

It is unlikely that Brazilian big man Rafael Hettsheimeir will end up a member of the Dallas Mavericks, according to the Dallas Morning News' Eddie Sefko.

Hettsheimeir is a 6'10, 260-pound center who has caught the attention of several NBA teams. The Mavericks have been mentioned among those teams but, with 15 players with guaranteed contracts already on the roster, the Mavericks would have to lose one of their three rookies or a veteran (either waived or by trade) to commit to Hettsheimeir.

The Mavericks' reshaped roster could still use some more size along its frontline. Chris Kaman and Bernard James are the only true centers. Dirk Nowitzki, Elton Brand and Brandan Wright are capable of sliding over to center, but only in special situations. If anything, Hettsheimeir will provide a big body but, again, it doesn't seem likely to happen.
