2012 U.S. Open Tennis Results: Djokovic and Ferrer Advance To Semifinals

The semifinals are set on the men's side at the 2012 U.S. Open as Novak Djokovic and David Ferrer both advanced on Thursday night. Djokovic defeated No. 7 Juan Martin del Potro in straight sets by a score of 6-2, 7-6 (7-3), 6-4.

Even though Djokovic won in straight sets, Del Potro did not go down easily. The second set lasted 84 minutes with Djokovic finally pulling the set out in victory, and in the third set, Del Potro made a late run, but was unable to get a set victory.

In the other semifinal at Arthur Ashe Stadium, Ferrer defeated No. 8 Janko Tipsarevic 6-3, 6-7 (5-7), 2-6, 6-3, 7-6 (7-4) in an extensive five set match that lasted four hours and 31 minutes. The match ended with a tiebreaker, where Ferrer's unwavering energy eventually ended with a victory.
