MLS Standings 2012: FC Dallas Within A Point Of Playoffs

FC Dallas pulled within one point of the playoffs after a crucial 1-0 victory against the Vancouver Whitecaps on Saturday. Currently in sixth place in the Western Conference, FC Dallas has 36 points on the season to Vancouver's 37.

The Whitecaps have played in one less game than FC Dallas on the year.

Saturday's match was representative of the two teams battling for their playoff lives. There were 21 fouls and three yellow cards between the two gritty squads in the first half alone. Tied at zero, Julian de Guzman chested a corner kick and nailed a volley past the Vancouver goalie to take the win in stoppage time.

FC Dallas won't play this week and next faces San Jose on Sept. 29 in Dallas, where they could potentially move into the final playoff spot. The Whitecaps play this week but have the pressure mounting after losing five in a row.
