Dez Wells is probably best known for his role in starting the Xavier-Cincinnati brawl last year that made the phrase "zip em up" famous in college basketball circles.
↵In his spare time, however, the freshman established himself as one of the most promising prospects in college basketball in 2012, averaging 9.8 points, 4.9 rebounds and 1.1 assists on 50% shooting.
↵Now, after being dismissed from Xavier for a violation of the school's code of conduct policy, he's looking for a new home. According to a report from Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports, Texas is one of three schools he's considering:
↵↵↵Xavier transfer Dez Wells will likely land at Louisville, Memphis, or Texas, per sources. Could decide as early as this week.

At 6'5, 215, he has the size, skill and athleticism of an NBA shooting guard, which is why he's not going to have any problems getting second or even third chances at the college level.
↵Rick Barnes is going to have to do some digging about his off-court problems, but it would have to be something really serious to make Wells not worth the risk.
