While many of the most recent rumblings from the Texas football scrimmages had David Ash and Case McCoy splitting time as the first-team QB position, it appears that the Longhorns have made up their mind in what hasn't exactly been one of the fiercest position battles in recent memory:

McCoy's unlikely heroics in Texas final game against Texas A&M will always be remembered fondly, but Ash clearly had the edge going into the 2012 season.
↵Not only is he a year younger, but he is significantly bigger and faster and he has a much stronger arm. Case may ultimately be a smaller and weaker-armed version of his older brother, which probably isn't enough to be successful at the level Mack Brown has become accustomed too.
↵However, if Ash struggles out of the gate, there's definitely a chance McCoy sees the field in 2012.
