The Texas Rangers lead in the American League West shrunk by a half game, but they still have a 6.5 game lead over the Oakland A's and an eight game lead over the Los Angeles Angels. This past week the Rangers went only 3-4 this past week, but no team was able to make a run to close the gap.
With six weeks left in the season the Rangers lead seems fairly safe, and barring a collapse should once again win the A.L. West. Their next series is a four-game set on the road against the New York Yankees.
