If you're a football fan, the chances are pretty high that you're the owner of at least one fantasy football team -- and you probably are paying for a few of those teams.
Most drafts will probably be held after Week 3 of the preseason, and if your league is drafting any sooner than that, then you probably need to impeach your commissioner.
When it is time to draft, fantasy football players should keep an eye on the Dallas Cowboys' skill players. According to Yahoo!'s projected rankings, Tony Romo is the ninth rated quarterback for 2012 fantasy purposes, behind Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees, Tom Brady, Cam Newton, Matthew Stafford, Michael Vick, Eli Manning and Peyton Manning.
Romo, though, could provide great value in your draft. With the NFL being such a pass heavy league, the chances are pretty decent that the top tier of quarterbacks (Rodgers, Brees, Brady) will be drafted in early rounds. Consequently, there might be a sense of panic among other owners, and the next tier could quickly go soon.
Romo is sort of on the outskirts of the elite tier of fantasy quarterbacks, but he certainly provides as much if not more upside than either Manning does. Romo threw for over 4,000 yards last year and 31 touchdowns, proving himself to be an excellent fantasy quarterback.
If you can snag Romo in the middle rounds of your draft, do it, and spend your early rounds focusing on skill players.
