Mavericks Assistant Terry Stotts A Finalist For Trailblazers Head Coaching Job, According To Report

Dallas Mavericks assistant Terry Stotts is a finalist for the Portland Trailblazers head coaching job, according to a report from SI.com. Stotts has previous experience as the head coach of the Milwaukee Bucks and Atlanta Hawks, and has been with the Mavericks since 2008. More on Stotts and his chances for the Trailblazers head coaching job after the jump.

The other men in contention for the job are Portland's interim coach Kaleb Canales, former Orlando Magic assistant Steve Clifford, and Elston Turner, assistant coach with the Phoenix Suns. All four men will have a second interview in Portland this week, according to the report. Stotts is the only candidate with experience as a head coach in the NBA, excepting Canales' interim experience. He coached the Hawks from 2002-2004 and the Bucks from 2005-2007, posting a 115-168 record between the two teams. Losing assistant coaches to other teams is nothing new for the Mavericks, who saw Dwane Casey leave for a job with the Toronto Raptors following the 2011 season.
