The first round of action at Royal Lytham & St. Annes for the 2012 British Open has become the Adam Scott show thus far. Scott is six-under in the first round and currently sits atop the leaderboard with several notables within striking range. Tiger Woods, Ernie Els and Bubba Watson are just a few in the top 10 of a very recognizable group of golfers in the hunt. That's good news for ratings.
As for local golfers, the story hasn't been so great for Hunter Mahan or Todd Hamilton, who are tied at 91st place overall with a two-over score on the day. Y.E. Yang is four-over and sits tied at 118th place, while Justin Leonard is even worst at five-over tied for 128th place. The only ray of hope for local golfers with ties to the British Open this year is Bob Estes, who is in 15th place (alongside 19 others) at one-under on the day.
