VIDEO: I'll Have Another Retires After Suffering Tendon Injury

Another year will pass with horse racing not having a Triple Crown winner as I'll Have Another has been scratched from the 2012 Belmont Stakes due to a tendon injury the horse suffered Friday morning, and now has retired due to the injury.

The tendon injury is not life threatening to I'll Have Another, but the injury is serious since horses put so much weight on their tendons when they run which so it is importan to be cautious. If a horse injuries the tendon again then it can become extremely difficult to repair. So the decision was made to retire I'll Have Another and not risk further injury since there is so much value in the horses breeding future.

SB Nation's Matt Gardner of And Down the Stretch They Come discusses the injury of I'll Have Another, as well as discussing what to expect in the 2012 Belmont Stakes now that the heavy favorite is out of the race.
