Baylor and Dallas Baptist are pitted against each other for the Waco Regional championship on Monday night for a chance to compete in the Super Regional against Arkansas, the winner of the Houston Regional.
Of the three regional host sites in Texas this year, Baylor is the only host left standing to qualify for Super Regional contention. Both of the others were knocked out by other nearby Texas-located teams.
The Rice Owls, who hosted the Houston Regional, were eliminated by Sam Houston State. Texas A&M, which hosted the College Station Regional, was bounced out of tournament by TCU.
Baylor is the team fighting from the shadow of the underdogs, as it took a 9-2 win from the Bears on Sunday just to get here. But this is a unique opportunity for Texas regional hosts schools.
Dallas Baptist and Baylor get started at 6:30 p.m. CT.
