At the very least for Andy Roddick, he won't have a first-round exit at Wimbledon in 2012. Roddick defeated the Scottish Jamie Baker in straight sets in the first round of play, winning in straight sets, 7-6, 6-4, 7-5.
Roddick lost in the second-round of the Australian Open this year, and had an early first-round exit at the French Open. In Roddick's defense, his game is not suited for clay court -- hence, the first round exit at Roland Garros.
Still, the No. 30 seed has a long way to go to respectability, but a strong showing at Wimbledon this year could get him back on the map.
Elsewhere at Wimbledon, third-seeded Roger Federer advanced in straight sets over Fabio Fognini, winning 6-1, 6-3, 6-2. Many tennis experts believe that this is Federer's best chance to win one last Grand Slam title.
