Wimbledon 2012: John Isner Upset In 1st Round

The story at the first round of Wimbledon is the upset loss of John Isner to Columbian Alejandro Falla. This went five sets, and Falla won 6-4, 6-7, 3-6, 7-6, 7-5.

Even under the circumstances, with not previous matches on grass leading up this point and perhaps not the ideal training, Isner was still in a position to get out of this match, though it doesn't say much about how the 11th-ranked tennis player would've done going forward.

But his confidence and mentality clearly played a part here.

"I just get so clouded and so frustrated," Isner said to the media following the disappointing loss. "It happened last match at the French (Open) and it happened here today. I just can't get out of my own way. I don't do the right things I need to do in the match and get too down on myself. There have certainly been better times than right now."
