The 2012 Wimbledon tournament gets underway at the All-England Club starting on June 25 - July 8, and with the tournament only a few days away the seeds were announced. On the women's side it is Maria Sharapova who earned the No. 1 overall seed. Sharapova is coming off winning the career Grand Slam by winning the 2012 French Open. The defending women's champion is Petra Kvitova who is the No. 4 seed.
On the men's side, the No. 1 overall seed went to defending Wimbledon champion Novak Djokovic. Djokovic is fresh off a French Open which he lost in the finals to Rafael Nadal, but he will be looking to win his second-straight Wimbledon title.
The highest seeded American women is Serena Williams who earned the No. 6 seed, and there are two American men who are seeded with Mardy Fish at No. 10 and John Isner at No. 11.
