The Olympic Club has been less than kind to many golfers on day one of the 2012 U.S. Open, and unfortunately for Cole Howard, he too fell victim to the course. Howard, through 18 holes, shot a +10 on the day for a score of 80.
He connected on 9-18 greens in regulation but was just 1-14 in fairways hit.
He started the day off by boegying the first hole on the course, a par four. He then double-bogeyed the second hole and triple bogeyed on the fifth. Through the first nine holes, Howard bogeyed four of them.
The back nine was just as bad as he bogeyed three of the first four holes but seemed to get things under control by making par on the last five holes.
