On Saturday, June 9, I'll Have Another will attempt to win the Belmont Stakes. If he does so, he will become the first horse since Affirmed in 1978 to win all three legs of the Triple Crown.
The early odds show I'll Have Another to be the clear favorite to win. As of Tuesday, the odds are 5/4 for I'll Have Another to finish in first place at the Belmont Stakes. Next up is Union Rags at 5/1, Paynter at 9/1 and Dullahan at 11/2.
Of course, the odds mean little. I'll Have Another, after all, was not the betting favorite at either the Kentucky Derby or the Preakness Stakes. His odds have improved due to strong runners like Bodemeister and Gemologist pulling out of the Belmont Stakes, but with a whole field of other horses going for the win -- including Union Rags, who severely underperformed at the Kentucky Derby -- the Triple Crown is not nearly as sewn up as those odds would have you believe.
