Perry Jones Wows Scouts At Workouts

DFW basketball fans have known about Baylor forward Perry Jones III incredible basketball talent since his days at Duncanville High School.

Over the past few weeks, as NBA draft prospects have flown around the country and worked out, the NBA is starting to find out about it too, with ESPN Insider Chad Ford featuring him in his latest article:

Jones wowed early. He's unusually quick and fluid for a player his size. While he's not a lights-out shooter, he's got a nice stroke and knocked down 7-of-15 from NBA 3-point range in one drill. He's also a solid ball handler for his size and looked very comfortable running all the drills on the perimeter. What was most impressive was his explosiveness in the paint. When Jones hit the lane, he blasted off the ground for a number of thunderous, highlight-reel dunks.

The usual concerns about his motor and intensity have followed him, but here's a look at the guards he played with in his two seasons at Baylor: LaceDarius Dunn, AJ Walton, Pierre Jackson and Brady Heislip. There isn't a PG in the group.

It's kind of hard to dominate when you're never given the ball in a position where you can score.

More importantly, the number of things Jones can do on a basketball court -- shooting, dribbling, rebounding, passing, defending multiple positions (basically everything) -- mean that he'll be a valuable piece for any NBA team that drafts him.
