2012 MWC Baseball Tournament: TCU Holds Off Furious Comeback Attempt By San Diego State, Wins 16-15

No. 2 seeded TCU and No. 3 San Diego State played in an epic game on the first day of the 2012 Mountain West baseball tournament, where TCU won 16-15. TCU led 14-4 heading into the ninth inning, but San Diego State's offense came alive to score 11 runs in the top of the ninth inning to take a 15-14 lead heading into the bottom of the ninth. All 11 of those runs came before the second out was recorded.

TCU relief pitcher Trey Teakell gave up eight of those runs in the ninth inning including a three-run home run by Chris Wilson. San Diego State took the lead when Tim Zier hit a two-RBI single to give them a 15-14 lead.

TCU was not phased as they came back in the bottom of the ninth when Kyle Von Tungeln homered which tied the game at 15 apiece. After a pair of hits which put men on first and third for TCU, San Diego State elected to intentionally load the bases but that back fired when Brett Johnson hit the game-winning single to defeat San Diego State 16-15.
