Texas Pitcher Parker French Named Big 12 Freshman Of The Year

The Texas Longhorns had a handful of players win Big 12 Conference honors this season. Parker French was named Freshman of the Year.

The Texas Longhorns had another solid baseball season and the accolades and awards are already beginning to come in.

According to the official Texas Longhorns athletics webpage, starting pitcher Parker French has been named the Big 12 Freshman of the Year. French is the third Longhorns player to win the award since 2008. In seven starts and eight appearances overall, French had a 4-1 record, posting a 2.54 ERA and picking up a save. In 26 innings of work, French recorded 14 strikeouts and allowed just 11 walks and 31 hits.

Five other Longhorns earned All-Big 12 honors. Infielder Erich Weiss and reliever Corey Knebel made All-Big 12 First Team. Outfielder Mark Payton, reliever Hoby Milner and catcher Jacob Felts were selections to All-Big 12 Second Team and French, outfielder Jonathan Walsh and infielder Jordan Etier received All-Big 12 Honorable Mention.
