2012 Preakness Predictions And Odds

We're less than two hours away from the horses lining up in their post positions at the 2012 Preakness, but it's still not too late to place some bets on the race. We'll get to my predictions shortly, but first, here's a refresher for post positions and odds for the eleven horses in the field.

  1. Tiger Walk, 30-1
  2. Teeth of the Dog, 15-1
  3. Pretension, 30-1
  4. Zetterholm, 20-1
  5. Went The Day Well, 6-1
  6. Creative Cause, 6-1
  7. Bodemeister, 8-5
  8. Daddy Nose Best, 12-1
  9. I'll Have Another, 5-2
  10. Optimizer, 30-1
  11. Cozzetti, 30-1
As you can see, Bodemeister is the clear favorite. Don't bother wasting your time betting on Bodemeister on a single ticket -- it's not a good bet when you're only getting a payoff of almost what you bet in the first place.

Still, it's tough not to like Bodemeister to win the race, after the record times he set in the Kentucky Derby, before fading down the stretch run.

I'll take Bodemeister to win, Creative Cause to place and Daddy Nose Best to show. I do not believe that we'll see a run at the Triple Crown this year, as I don't believe the shorter tracker and smaller field benefits I'll Have Another.
