Golfers and spectators enjoyed a beautiful day for the first round of the 2012 Byron Nelson Championship in Irving, Texas on Thursday. American Ryan Palmer also enjoyed the best round of the day.
Palmer shot a 6-under 64 to pace the field and is atop the leaderboard after the first day. Palmer birdied three of the first five holes and shot a 32 on both parts of the course.
Coming off his win at The Players Championship, Matt Kuchar is in the hunt again, tied for fourth at -4. Although the field isn't as talented as The Players, there are some other notables in the tournament. Phil Mickelson is tied for 56th after shooting even par. Padraig Harrington shot a 2-under 68
