No, it's not quite time for the Tour de France, but we're getting close. Cycling fans have the Tour of California to help tide them over until this summer's premiere cycling event.

The Tour of California is an eight-day event that began in 2006. Floyd Landis was the race's inaugural winner, and Americans held onto the Tour of California title up until 2010. Levi Leipheimer won the race in back-to-back-to-back years between 2007-09 before Australian Michael Rogers won the race in 2010. Chris Horner brought the title back to an American in 2011, though, and Leipheimer, no stranger to success at the Tour of California, finished second.

The 2012 Tour of California will begin on May 13 and last until May 20. Cycling fans will be pleased to know that the race can be seen on NBC Sports Network up until the final stage on May 20, which will be broadcast nationally on NBC.
